Criminal Defense and Motor Vehicle Defense

For over 20 years, Matt has represented individuals accused of crimes in the Connecticut Superior Court. He has appeared in courts throughout Eastern Connecticut and Middlesex County.  From infractions through major felonies, Matt has fought to protect the rights of the accused under the United States and Connecticut Constitutions.  He represents people in pre-arrest investigations, defense following arrest, and at trial.

Matt has helped many of his clients through pre-trial diversionary programs, or negotiated pleas, and has also tried their cases when necessary. He has also represented clients in their pardon applications.

 Matt tried Connecticut’s first mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) case, a bank robbery, State v. Pappas, 265 Conn. 854 (2001) and has lectured on criminal defense before the Connecticut Criminal Defense Lawyers and the Connecticut Trial Lawyers associations.  Since 2004 he has been an Assigned Counsel for the Office of the Connecticut Public Defender.
